I first started going to church during a desperate time in my mom’s life. As a kid, I prayed the sinner’s prayer after learning about hell. I saw Jesus as my free ticket to heaven. For the next 16 years, I lived like I had to earn God’s love and earn my way to heaven.

In my sophomore year at Azusa Pacific University, a man told me that the Gospel is really about falling in love with Jesus and going on a great adventure with Him. He prayed for me and I was wrecked. I opened the gates of my heart and it was like everything changed. I discovered intimacy with God and it felt like I was home for the first time in my life.

It was during my sophomore year of college that I met Kevin Huang, an organic chemistry professor who showed me self-sacrificing love and commitment. He mentored me and cared for the 40 freshman guys in my dorm where I was an RA.

Since Jesus changed my life in college, I believe that the church can change the world through discipleship. My heart is burning for my generation. I learned that out of 100% of high school students who have made a commitment to Jesus, only 8% of those students still choose to follow Jesus by their graduation from college. My passion is to defy the odds and raise this statistic.

My dream for my generation is to see them go to college for a season and leave for a destiny. My dream is for college students to discover what it means to be the people that God has called them to be and to change the world through discipleship."
