season of Lent

Lent is a period of 40 weekdays preceding Easter. It is a time for us to reflect on Jesus, what he’s done for us, as well as a time to examine our own lives and see how we can love him more. This year, we are journeying through Lent together as a church body. We will read the same daily scriptural reading, pray and fast together. You’ll find an insert in your bulletin each week with suggestion for reflection. Today, you will find a bookmark, a Lenten Living insert and information about our Lent season schedule and plan. Join us in this year’s Lenten journey!

Ash Wednesday Service

We will begin our Lenten journey with a Taize Prayer Service on Ash Wednsday, February 22, from 7-8pm at the church office. Taize prayer is a quiet, meditative way of praying and worshipping the Lord. Join us in preparing our hearts for the season with this special form of prayer & worship.

Ignite Class

IGNITE is a 6 week interactive class for the purpose of encouraging us in our personal journey with Jesus. It is for those who want to be refreshed and strengthened as well as a foundation for intercessory and prophetic ministry. We will examine our beliefs, spiritual habits, and view of God, so our minds can be transformed and our intimacy with God deepened. We will be using Steve Backlund’s “Igniting Faith”, a 40 day guide to help strengthen our facetime, along with “Victorious Mindsets” that will help define what we truly believe. There is no childcare available but it’s okay for couples to trade off attendance.

Date/Time: March 4 – April 15; Sundays 9-10am at Cleveland Elementary.

Cost: $25 for materials.

Courageous Movie Showing

World Mandate West

World Mandate West Conference:

World Mandate is a conference for anyone who loves Jesus and wants to know more about His passion for the nations of the world. Through worship, inspiring teaching and powerful encounters with God, you will have the opportunity to have your heart revived and become more aware of what God is doing in the earth.

We will join All Peoples Church in San Diego for this conference from February 3rd-4th, 2012 at their location at Horace Mann Middle School and then return to Epicentre for our World Mandate West service on Sunday, February 5th.

Housing:

Singles: All People’s Church has secured a church gym where college students and singles can stay free of charge.

Marrieds/Families: Hotel options can be found at the worldmandatewest.com website. We’ve worked out deals with a few hotels near the conference site for you to reserve for your own family.

Children’s Program: We’re excited to have Shawn Dunn, children’s pastor from Antioch Waco, come and lead the children’s program (for ages 0-12). The children’s program will take place simultaneously with the main conference.

Transportation: We would like to advise you to leave plenty of time on Friday to get down to San Diego. If possible, carpool with the lifegroup members or those who live near you. Try to leave by 3pm or earlier.

Teresa Huang’s Transition

Hey church community. If you missed the announcement this past Sunday, Jan 8th, 2012, Teresa Huang shared about her transition off staff and into a lay role in family ministry, specifically focusing on how families can live more missionally. Teresa has served Epicentre, on and off staff for the past 8 years, and we are extremely grateful for her love, care, and attention given to families. Teresa will continue to serve family ministries in a different capacity. Pastor John and Teresa Huang are creating and developing a family ministry team that can envision and provide for the needs of our growing families. If you are interested in contributing to this team, please talk to John or Teresa.
