In the City for City Transformation
Lincoln Heights, located in Northeast Los Angeles, is one of the oldest and most distinct Latino neighborhoods in Los Angeles, fraught with gang violence, high crime rate, low-income and broken families, and a lack of accessible resources. The Lincoln Heights church plant began in 2004, seeking God in the building of His Kingdom in the Lincoln Heights inner city urban community. We desire our ministry to be holistic in nature – seeking personal, family, and community transformation, all the while, investing in the development of indigenous leadership. We currently lead three organic churches, as well as a vibrant high school youth ministry. Our church is comprised of teenagers, single adults, married couples, and families. Furthermore, we launched IntheCity,Inc. in 2008, a non-profit arm to Epicentre Community Church. As we believe that the best solutions to the challenges facing an urban community are found in the people that live there, IntheCity, Inc. strives to identify, mobilize, and develop local leaders to transform their community through formal training and specific, focused projects.
At our core, we’re an inside-out movement. Transformation births transformation. We have a simple philosophy that Jesus came to bring redemption and restoration of human hearts, relationships, and society. As we give our whole lives to Him, He does a work that changes us from the inside-out. The way we think, our attitudes, the way we act and live our lives all become infiltrated by the beautiful mastery of Jesus’ redemptive and restorative work. This majestic process spills over into our relationships, our work, our world.
Jesus lived from the inside out. He spent most of His time loving His Father, investing in His disciples, and unleashed an unstoppable force called the church through the power of the Holy Spirit.
We’re part of the Antioch International Movement of Churches, a movement after a passion for Jesus and for His purposes in the nations.
In 2012, God birthed a vision through our leaders and mentors to imagine a church in West Los Angeles. As we discerned, took steps of faith, God led us through encounter after encounter that He was with us. We started a lifegroup in West Los Angeles at the end of September 2012 and at the beginning of February 2013 launched our first preview service. We are excited to be part of God’s larger movement in West Los Angeles, to humbly serve, pastor, and inspire an acceptance to Jesus’ invitation of Kingdom walking and living, not just for here, but for the redemption and restoration of the greater world He created.
We are a church in pre-launch. What is a pre‐launch, a soft launch, or even a preview service? These phrases describe an incubation period where we’re hosting unpublicized Sunday services that are open to all. It is a set aside season for our church and leaders to form identity, vision, and values that will help us be more effective ministers in our area, which means we’ll cast vision, develop community, and improve as we move forward. Our service will feature worship, welcome, a message, and response.
